Smash It Sports Vipers Red Hot Start To The Season


Smash It Sports Vipers (Shawnee, Kansas) - won all 3 games played in the first-ever Women's Professional Fastpitch event in Shawnee, Kansas. The Vipers played games against the USSSA Pride, Alliance, and HFL. Games started Tuesday 6/14 and capped off with Jocelyn Alo's pro debut on Friday 6/17.


Tuesday 6/14 was the Inaugural WPF Game between the Smash It Sports Vipers and the USSSA Pride. The game was filled with excitement and great play on the field. Ciara Bryan of the Vipers finished the game 2-3 with (2) 3 run home runs to help propel the Vipers to their first-ever win!

Wednesday 6/15 games were canceled due to weather.


Thursday 6/16 the Vipers played the College Level Alliance team. The game started off hot with 6 runs combined for both teams in the first inning. A pitching duel ensued until Team Alliance put up 2 runs in the top of the 6th to take a 5-3 lead. The Vipers came out strong in the bottom of the 6th with our first 3 batters reaching base on walks. Suzy Brookshire made team Alliance pay with a Grand Slam to put the Vipers up by 2 runs and take back the lead 7-5. The Vipers then shut down Team Alliance's bats in the Top of the 7th to take the win. Mary Iakopo had a great game going 2-2 with a home run and 2 RBIs. Friday 6/17 was the much-anticipated game of the week when Jocelyn Alo made her Professional Debut for the Smash It Sports Vipers. The Vipers played the College level team HFL and controlled the game from start to finish on Offense and Defense. Scoring in every inning by the 6th, the Vipers went on to win 11-4. Another big game by Mary Iakopo going 2-3 with a home run and 4 RBIs. Jocelyn Alo showed off her nerves of steel making the most of her pro debut going 2-3 with a double and an RBI.

A great team effort all around and multiple home runs for the Vipers High Power Offense. Great pitching as well from Avelo, Fiser, Mancha, and Willis helped secure the games when it mattered most.
